IslandStay is a family owned and run accommodation facility in the Okiwi Valley/Whangapoua Basin, NE Great Barrier Island. We are centrally located in the north, on the east of the divide, close to the ocean beach and tidal estuary, near popular mountain and coastal trails yet easily accessible from the main bus route and not far from the Okiwi Airstrip.

We offer accommodation in two separate self-contained structures for up to 18 people. IslandStay is privately situated on an 11 acre site close by the meandering Okiwi Stream and old growth native trees. For a summer holiday, an island field trip or a vacation, we cater for all types of family, interest, scientific and educational groups.

Visitors are discovering Great Barrier Island's warm climate and spectacular scenery, and appreciating the lack of commercial development. The island has a fascinating history and is still well populated by its pioneer families' later generations. We welcome visitors and will strive to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
